All about me and a bit of a back story
Hi, Hello there
I’m Cheryl. I’m 28 and have a wonderful little family consisting of my husband and little boy. We live in Auckland, New Zealand.
I’ve trained as an interior designer but currently work as a Chiropractic Assistant (CA)Â with a goal of setting up a bathroom design business on the side.
My sister-in-law, Sez she shall be known as, got engaged on Thursday the 22nd December 2011. In the weeks preceding the engagement my husband and Sez lost their mother to bowel cancer. She knew that it was going to happen as part of the groom-to-be’s culture he asks both the father and the brother for their blessing and because of the situation my father in law told Sez’s mum in her last week of life which apparently put a big smile on her face.
While my husband’s family are still coming to terms with life without her this engagement has been a wonderful distraction from the big void her passing has left behind. In many ways she was the glue that held as all together.
I turned to my own mother for her advice and company during the planning of my wedding which is why I vowed that I would be with Sez every step that she needed me along the way, this was before I even got asked to be Matron of Honour.
I am going to do everything I can to make this a time and in the end a day to remember.
Being involved in the wedding party has also given me the solid motivation I need to stick to my weight loss plan. I have just over a year which gives me time to do it slowly and properly. I intend to go to the gym as many times a week as I can and to eat healthily at least 80% of the time. I am not going to berate myself if I give in to a craving for chocolate or if we have the occasional takeaway on a Friday night, there’s no point. Life is going to throw hard times at us especially as this is going to be a year of 1sts as we celebrate birthdays and anniversaries without my mother in law.
Not only do I want to lose weight to look good in the wedding photos I also need to lose weight for my health! I am currently in the obese category on the BMI index because of my height (157cm). Everything you read says that being obese means pressure is put on your internal organs and your joints as well, although I know this should be motivation in itself it hasn’t really worked to keep me sticking to plan as there are such negative vibes around the word (as there should be, don’t get me wrong) but the fear of embarrassment, of being the “fat one” when we see the wedding photos is what will keep me going.
